Vancouver-based band Said the Whale was presented with the Juno award for New Artist of the Year on March 26th.  Although the band has been making music for over four years, Said the Whale has just begun to emerge on the American music scene. The band is just finishing their first US tour, which they scheduled around a series of performances at SXSW in Austin, TX. No strangers to the road, the quintet has previously played several full Canadian tours, including support for Plants and Animals and Mother Mother, as well as gigs with the likes of City and Colour, Sloan, Joel Plaskett and Devo. Starting April 3rd, Said the Whale will be the direct support for Tokyo Police Club on tour in Canada. They will then make their way to the UK to play Brighton’s Great Escape and Liverpool’s Liverpool Sound City festivals.
