“Tonight”- Kleer- Kleer is a band that receives no credit for having some funky ass grooves. Their songs are filled with deep bass-lines and funky lyrics. This song is pretty heavily sampled, along with most of their tracks! I really wanted to feature their track entitled, “Intimate Connection,” but I couldn’t find a video to post. So do a google search for the song and trust me it is one worth hearing. They also have another funk-filled jam entitled, “Next Time It’s For Real.” These cats never get any love and they are pretty underground funk, so discover this funky band. And bob your head to the funk as will Dr. J going into surgery! Enjoy!
“Touch a Four Leaf Clover”- Atlantic Starr- This is one of those kick back slow jams. It is smooth from beginning to end. Atlantic Starr is also not thought of as one of those elite R&B bands and I don’t know why. If you think about it, they have some heavy hitting songs: Masterpiece, Secret Lovers, My First Love, Always, The Midas Touch, and much much more! Like any other classic R&B hit, this song was recently sampled on Erykah Badu’s debut album, “Baduizm.” This is one of those sophisticated tracks that can land an out of league girl like KY. Enjoy!
