Artist of the Week

Artist of the Week- The Rescues

With Valentines Day on everybody’s mind, I wanted to highlight a band that was brought together by love.  Collectively, Kyler, Gabe, Adrianne & Rob form The Rescues.  Individually each member has enjoyed some level of success around LA, and in their respective hometowns.  These friends were brought together by a mutual friend who asked them to perform for his wedding, which they did.  Obviously they enjoyed working together and they formed their current group.  These guys have worked/shared the stage in some capacity with some incredible artists like: Alanis Morrissette, Sting, Avril Lavigne, The Rolling Stones, Kelly Clarkson, Gavin Degraw, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Annie Lennox and several others.

Several weeks ago, when I started researching this band, the thing that peaked my interest was the fact that all 4 members of the band were songwriters.  This blew me away!  How can 4 songwriters collectively come to a consensus on anything?  Well it seems to be working just fine.  During our recent interview with the band, they said this about their writing process:  “I think we love each other 99% of the time, so we’re really like a family at this point…When you’re going through something creative or intense together, you’re gonna have moments of disagreement…We write in the same room, it’s like a democracy, which is unusual for a band.”  It says a lot about the band that they did the show together, showing solidarity, no one member of the group is more important than the other.  That says a lot about their friendship and commitment to each other and the band!

We’re not the only ones who have taken notice of this quartet, they’ve been featured in the flowing TV Shows: Grey’s Anatomy, Arrested Development, One Tree Hill, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Men In Trees, Guiding Light, What About Brian, Zoey 101, and Road Rules.  They’ve even performed for the Mayor several times!

But let’s talk about the music, after all, that’s why we had them on.  One of their best tracks is the very haunting “My Heart With You.”  Beautifully written, this song shows off the band’s best talents:  Their deep rich voices and beautiful harmonies.  I’ll never forget where I was when I first heard this song:  Walking to class,  I put my Bose headphones on, I immediately got goose bumps as their majestic voices filled my ears.  It felt as if I was floating in air, as their voices penetrated my skin and seeped deep into my soul!  This song is a masterpiece!

Follow Me Into The Sun” is another stand out song that features Kyler England.  Lyrically, all their songs are a cut above the rest, but when you combine the lyrics to the instrumentation, you get candy for your ears.  In a perfect world you could hear this song on KIIS FM, or Star 98.7, but I won’t get started on that again!  These talented musicians/artists truly define what it is to be committed to their music and to one another.  I truly wish them success and if I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, we need to support amazing musicians like these!  So please follow the links below!

The Rescues will be playing with, recent guest, Lucy Schwartz at the Troubadour on the 24th of February (buy tickets here), admission is a steal at $10 and the SXSW Festival in Austin Texas on March 18-20.  Catch the now, before they start selling out Madison Square Garden!

  1. It is nice to see you finally learning about a band I have known abour for over a year and have known about each artist, drummer aside, seperately. I have written much more in depth articles about this group. I have followed their music through Guiding Light. Your article has nothing new to offer but glad to see you catching onto what millions of us already know.
