From time to time you meet someone and you know you like them instantly. Within the first moments of your initial encounter you come to the realization that your time together is going to be well…pretty goddamn rad. Most of the friends I keep today are of that ilk. All-around good people that from second one, I knew they were the party monsters that I could get down with. This happens with bands too. You hear the first few notes of a song and suddenly you perk up. You get that tingly feeling on the back of your neck. It’s like a first kiss, but for your ears. That’s happened with this week’s ARTIST OF THE WEEK. Now armed with two EPs worth of hot tracks, they’ve started touring heavily. We’re going to open with their newest “dance party inducing” single, Is This How You Feel? off of their EP of the same name. This week’s Artist of the Week: The Preatures. The video is rad.

With the release of their second EP The Preatures are catching attention from all corners of the world. Â Much of this attention is largely due to the aforementioned single, Is This How You Feel? getting the dance mix treatment from the DJ duo CLASSIXX.

They have a great party sound that is reminiscent of good Fleetwood Mac, but they have that electro shit going for them that every band in the 80’s had. I really dig it. Isabella goes super Stevie Nix on the track Maniac Baby. The song is named Maniac Baby so you know it’s really fucking good. It’s accompanied by another crazy/weird/awesome video.
The first EP Shaking Hands isn’t getting mentioned much in the media, what with the huge commotion caused by Is This How You Feel? but it is totally worth a listen. The opening track Take A Card has Gideon taking the lead and he belts it out. This band throws down and I love it. This one has a bit of a 60’s-esque arrangement. I dig it.
I don’t know how, but this band seems to have decided to make it their mission to perfect the performance video. Simple. Fun. Entertaining. Making about the music rather than some dumb story line a director thought up.
The Preatures are touring right now. Check out their website and maybe you can catch them before it becomes impossible to see them because all the Mollied out youths buy up all the tickets. Rock out to their tunes this Halloween weekend. Every party needs good dance tracks. It’s no Monster Mash but hey, what are you gonna do?
