A Night Out With the ETS Crew

On Tuesday, June 8th, Greg Holden & Katie Costello were in town.  Because they are such great artists, we rounded up the troops and headed for Room 5 in LA.  What a great night!

For those of you who haven’t been to Room 5, it is a small and intimate place to see a show.  The cost to see Greg & Katie?  A whopping $6!  After the amazing show, I almost felt guilty that the show cost so little.  Room 5 is about a block away from the famous Pink’s Hot Dog stand.  The venue has a bar and seats about 75 people.  The red chairs give the place a contemporary lounge feel.  Here’s what KY had to say,”What a quaint spot with the perfect personality and atmosphere to compliment Katie and Greg, and their amazing sounds. I love intimate venues like room 5.”

Greg took the stage about 9, and absolutely killed!  He performed some oldies, but goodies, and some of his new material.  Turrtle had this to say about the show, “I thought that both put on a nice show, they both incorporated humor into their set. I enjoyed the crowd singing along to the final song of Greg’s set.”  Katie Costello took the stage at 10, and picked up right where Greg left off.  Her show is so energetic and her voice was spot on!  With Katie, not only do you get a great live set, and as Turrtle said, she injected some comedy into her show.  In all, both shows were worthy of high praise!

If that wasn’t enough, Arian Saleh was in the audience and took time to chill with us for awhile!  If that wasn’t enough, Lucy Schwartz was also their and stopped by to say hello!  It was the “who’s Who” of the Indie music scene!  We were fortunate enough to talk to everyone and we’ll have interviews up on the website very soon!

Our very own editor Sara had this to say about that night, “I actually wasn’t going to go see Katie and Greg play at Room 5 Lounge, but I’m so glad I did! Interacting with the artists in person was a great experience because it allowed me to put a face to the voice behind the mic. Also, hearing them perform their material live (some of it new!) was amazing and added a new element to the songs I already knew. Interacting with our new friends and talking music is just another element that humanizes and us all.

What’s great about these artists is their accessibility after the show.  Katie & I had the chance to talk for a minute and her genuine love for music was very clear!  I think Inara George has some trouble for my #1 female singer position!

What an amazing night of music and friends.  KY summed it up best, “The chance to connect with some of our ETS featured artists was so amazing. It makes my love and respect for their music grow that much more… They are talented, hard working, genuine people!”
