Artist of the Week – Ida Maria

idamaria2008-62

Who said the Queen is Dead? Not only is the Queen alive, but she’s kicking some major ass! Ida Maria is the “Queen of the World” and it is only fitting that royalty gets the inaugural Artist of the Week. Hailing from Norway, Ida Maria has made a recent splash here in the U.S. Her single, “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked” is an instant classic, with its pop-rock feel. More Importantly, her debut album, “Fortresss ’round My Heart” is a constant in my iPod. Her raspy voice and her kick ass live shows are quickly putting her at the top of most people’s to do list this summer.  Not much has come our way from Norway, only Royksopp and A-Ha have any name value.  Having said that, she has become an instant darling in the Indie Rock scene, as well as the main stream.  She has already been featured on Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine and played on the Tonight Show.  She is coming to the Los Angeles Area in late June and early July.  Although relatively new to the music scene, Ida Maria is quickly becoming known for her live performances.  She jumps around stage and at times has physically hurt herself!  She is a must see!  Be sure to catch her in concert this summer!   I dig chicks that rock and Ida Maria definitely does not disappoint!  So CRANK UP that iPod or turn up that CD, and get ready for some ass-kicking, no-nonsense Rock & Roll!  Her latest album gets the PAWA (Play and Walk Away) Seal of Approval!
