Greetings all, I was on assignment last month but we are back with a great show. While I was away my physical & e-mail mailboxes were overflowing with new music. 2013 is starting off with a bang!
We will check in with Yo La Tengo. Their new album “Fade” is brilliant in structure & sound. These guys are so tight you know they have been with each other through the thick & thin. Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew have been creating music together for more than 20 years & they have hit gold with their latest installment.
While rolling the ’64 out to Palm Springs I got cut off by a minivan in Banning. Thank god I stopped shortOn assignment at Frank Sinatra’s Palm Springs home. This is The Chairman’s Stereo
because a c/d came sliding out from under my seat. The c/d in question was Parlovr’s “Kook Soul”. This album is going on a year old & it is as fresh as a loaf of olive bread from LaBrea Bakery. I am ashamed I let this one slip past me for the past year. This Montreal Trio makes my soul soar.
South London’s own Skye lead voice of Morcheeba breaks out her new solo album “Back To Now” this month. We get a taste of what talent really is. This woman’s voice is unlike any in the world today. This record is a early E,T.S fave!
What would the show be without a few mash ups by some of new & old heads to the game. Apollo Zero from New Orleans has himself a ball with Hall & Oats VS. Depeche Mode. Mashup Germany the orchestra-tors of deception make songs out of songs with a reggae track that will have your toes a tapping. We will also celebrate Lou Reed’s Birthday & 40th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon. Plenty of fun instore !!
