The Invisible Hand – Explicit

It’s a rare occurrence when you can listen to an album and just know that every member was grinning from ear to ear during the recording process.  The music the players generate is bursting at the seams with the kind of positivity only found in Disney cartoons.  The Invisible Hand give the impression that they’re having more fun than you at any given moment, and this is most apparent on their album Explicit.

Rounded out by Adam Smith, Thomas Dean, Jon Bray and Adam Brock the boys have taken a cue from 60s garage rock and infusing it with 80s pop. This Virginia quartet bubbles and squeaks with a fire that’s infectious and comical.  “If you find yourself on fire, then you know that smoking kills” sings Smith on the party-oriented “There’s Room in my Will.”

Some of the enjoyable, bouncing-off-the-wall tracks includes “Four Seasons,” “I Caught Twenty-Two,” “Black Tie Formal” and “There’s Room in my Will.”  For fans of Supergrass, Ok Go, Modest Mouse and music that will genuinely make you smile, The Invisible Hand is in your ball park.
