Memorial Day weekend often signifies the beginning of summer. The official start to yard projects, backyard BBQ’s, time for friends and family, and vacations. In fact, I seriously doubt anyone will read this until Tuesday. Due to poor choices, I’m spending my Saturday morning writing instead of sleeping in a tent in the woods with the smell of fire abundant in my hair. (Errr…I mean, there is nothing I’d rather be doing right now than writing for Enter the Shell.) Regardless…hopefully, you will have read this article before you head out on this weekend’s adventures; there is a soundtrack for your summer that you need.
Minus the Bear are giving away a new EP entitled Hold Me Down via their website right now…thats right, giving away…as in free. It includes tracks from their 2010 release, OMNI, which was coincidentally my last year’s summer soundtrack. It isn’t exactly new, however it does have a few live tracks on it, that any Minus the Bear fan will want to snag up (despite the fact that they sound as good as the originals) as well as Broken China, and a remix of My Time.
Minus the Bear is truely a band’s band, their musicianship absolutely cannot be beat and if you get the chance to see them in concert, please do, as they are one of the best live acts you will ever see. Hold Me Down is no exception from the quality thats come to be expected from the band. It is just a refreshing blend of amazing melodies and borderline poetic lyrics, that are light, fresh, and guarantee a good time.
