Franchot Tone Offers “Everything’s Fine” For this weeks free download.

unnamedWhatever the thermometer reads outside you can expect Tone to fill the speakers with heaps of warm guitar strums, breezy melodies and an easygoing vibe. Singer/Songwriter Franchot Tone caught the attention of critics and hipsters alike as a founding member of Culver City Dub Collective. Now on his debut solo offering Thanks For This, his familiar Southern Californian sound bridges the gap between The Beach Boys, Sublime and Jason Mraz. Tone produced the album with his longtime collaborative partner Adam Topol. Adam anchored the groove and feel of the work with his rock solid drumming and retro-inspired production skills. The basic tracks were recorded by Grammy Winning engineer/producer Robert Carranza in Hollywood at the Solar Powered Plastic Plant. Carranza, who is well known for his work with artists ranging from Beastie Boys to Los Lobos, blessed the project with his mixing skills. Tone enlisted an all star cast of his talented friends to contribute to Thanks For This, including keyboard legend Brian Auger and members of Culver City Dub Collective, Ozomatli, Beastie Boys, Beck, Jason Mraz, The Eels, Dengue Fever and CAVA. Tone’s debut can be characterized as laid-back pop-rock with a breezy reggae vibe. Tone also paid homage to the legendary New Orleans funk masters, The Meters, with a few Nola-inspired funk instrumentals. Tone’s album has been enthusiastically received and widely praised. The music video for the single “Everything’s Fine” garnered over 1,225,000 YouTube views in its’ first 2 weeks.
