Greetings all, I was on assignment last month but we are back with a great show. While I was away my physical & e-mail mailboxes were overflowing with new music. 2013 is starting off with a bang!
We will check in with Yo La Tengo. Their new album “Fade” is brilliant in structure & sound. These guys are so tight you know they have been with each other through the thick & thin. Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew have been creating music together for more than 20 years & they have hit gold with their latest installment.
While rolling the ’64 out to Palm Springs I got cut off by a minivan in Banning. Thank god I stopped short
On assignment at Frank Sinatra’s Palm Springs home. This is The Chairman’s Stereo
because a c/d came sliding out from under my seat. The c/d in question was Parlovr’s “Kook Soul”. This album is going on a year old & it is as fresh as a loaf of olive bread from LaBrea Bakery. I am ashamed I let this one slip past me for the past year. This Montreal Trio makes my soul soar.
South London’s own Skye lead voice of Morcheeba breaks out her new solo album “Back To Now” this month. We get a taste of what talent really is. This woman’s voice is unlike any in the world today. This record is a early E,T.S fave!
What would the show be without a few mash ups by some of new & old heads to the game. Apollo Zero from New Orleans has himself a ball with Hall & Oats VS. Depeche Mode. Mashup Germany the orchestra-tors of deception make songs out of songs with a reggae track that will have your toes a tapping. We will also celebrate Lou Reed’s Birthday & 40th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon. Plenty of fun instore !!

Big things in Trece Shell Heads, a new year with so much fresh inspired music.
In this first 2013 edition of “Programming” I explore the sounds of new artists who going to be blowing up in the new year. We will be checking with Arizona’s Gospel Claws who are making brilliant music in the desert. The Sunglasses bring that 70′s Phyc flavor with their track “Cold Shoulder”. Taste the sweet flavor of the 2012 Mercury Prize winners Alt J. Up & coming producers like Boyle Heights own Yukicito’s Bossa Nova Beatz, & New to the U.S. scene Aussie beat masters Canyons doing a number on Tame Impala’s “Elephant”.Plus, we dive into the crates for some funk to punk classics from The Stylistics to JFA. Y mucho mas. Put the cans on & enjoy a tour of musica de fantastico!!
We here at Enter The Shell are excited to share the music we love. Glad to have you all back for another year here @ “Programming”

In this edition of “The Bootleg Series” Turrtle traveled down to Christina Hale’s “The Smoking Gun” art show, where we were allowed to take over the night with music. Our very own Jason Groman spinned vinyl for the night and then Kevin Ponthier carried on the night! If your interested in seeing Christina Hale’s work please visit the Robert Berman Gallery
Chrstina Hale also agreed to a interview which you can see here:

Your pal Gromer St. Nick has been collecting Christmas Songs in form or another since the 80′s. I enjoy sharing my collection to all of my friends & loved ones for years now via c/d or tape format. So, the 15th Annual “Best Songs @ Christmas comes to Enter The Shell in a digital format. We encourage you to download this edition for your Christmas Season.
After an exhausting Presidential Campaign I felt it was only appropriate for this shows theme to be “Christmas In The White house”. I have incorporated behind the scenes outtakes & news footage of Presidents during the Christmas Season. Bill Clinton gets caught eating the White house gingerbread house. Laura Bush describes her Christmas Tree & the arrival of President Obama’s first White house Tree. Fun drops with a selection of songs that may make you shake your head. Rare Christmas songs by James Brown, Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin, fun standards by Neil Diamond, Ginette Reno, plus a turntable take or two with Christmas Classics.
We will see you on the flipside of 2012 in Jan 2013 with my Best Of 2012 Show. Til then stay safe !
From the E.T.S Family we wish you a wonderful Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa !

Spending time with the great Dwight Yoakum & his amazing new album “3 Pears”.
Happy November y’all. Tis the season to reflect & be thankful for what one has. This edition of “Programming” will take on that very concept. I am very thankful to my boss “Turrtle” in letting me share my record collection with the Enter The Shell audience every month. I get the opportunity to put whatever the hell I want into my programs without question. Those of you that have hit me on the Twitter & e-mails like what I bring to the table & for that I am very thankful.
In this edition I get a bit introverted in the music selection with keeping on the theme of being “Thankful”. Though I complain about my hometown Los Angeles I have a deep love for it. I start the show with a brilliant re-edit of “Under The Bridge” by the Chili Peppers from super producer Dj Filabusta. Filabusta captures the reality of my schizophrentic city in sweet auditory fashion.
New bands & producers with a new sound is something this cat is always thankful for. From Queens NY comes Freelance Whales. This indie group with frontman Judah Dadone bring a fresh sound like Nana’s Cranberry Sauce. The slow roasted sound of Heavy Young Heathens will have you begging for seconds. Dj Top Cat brings the giblets with a organic take on Johnny Cash’s “Rusty Cage” by incorporating a classic by L.A.’s NWA.
Established artists still bringing the heat makes us all say thanks. The beauty of Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes with her latest effort “The Haunted Man” is in this Disc Jockey’s opinion her best to date. From track 1 – 11 this album has a dusting of Greatness !! Country legend / Thespian Dwight Yoakum’s brand new record after 9 years off “3 Pears” is freekin Grammy bound. Mr. Yoakum still has the chops & after his Australian tour you will see your pal Groman catching this man in concert with a 10 gallon & all.
I am very thankful for my Native American heritage & my grandma Joan from the Blackfoot Nation. With that I dedicate the skins go to artist Brule & his powerful track ”Brave Heart” to her. I love you Grandma. Although you are not with us today I carry you in my heart every day.
I hope all of you have good Thanksgiving. I know family can be a pain in the ass but, step up & enjoy.

A pic with The Godfathers of House Music “Orbital” while they were in L.A.
Hey gang !
Sorry it took so long. I know it gets a bit scary without your “Programming” fix but, we are back with an all new show. As Summer gets ushered out & Fall creeps in its time for sweet treats from the Echo Park Music Library.
In this edition we explore the minds of the some of my fave producers with some of the tightest remixes to delight the auditory canals. Brand new work from Wax Tailor, Fussinix taps into Jimi Hendrix with his bouncy rendition of “Foxy Lady” & Sharon Jones & The Dap King’s “I’m Not Gonna Cry”, & new producer Vibelynx beautifies Nancy Sinatra’s classic “Bang Bang”.
We will also check out some new artists that bring the love into the Fall of 2012. Scotland has been putting out a fresh music for sometime now The boys of Hjeart fill the bill with some peppy infectious sounds. Gregory Pepper & His Problems jazzy sullen vibe makes Fall feel like Fall. New singer songwriter Tristan Prettyman’s new album “Cedar Gold” is something really special !
It wouldn’t be Halloween without some creepy tunes & Menomena takes cake with their track “Baton”. Phil Retrospector does an eerie take on Johnny Cash’s version of ”Hurt”. Plus, we built a sweet version of “This Is Halloween” from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.
From all us at the E.T.S. Staff we wish you a very Happy Halloween.

Hey Gang ! Old Man Gromer’s here. Glad that you dropped by to this edition of “Programming”. Man, so much good music has come into the office I can’t keep up. 2012 has proven to be a great year for new music. Plus the the resurgence of icons like the Beach Boys, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, & Bonnie Raitt makes the music landscape that much more special for this year.
This show explores some of the new artists that I’ have a boner for. We will be checking out new works from The Young Evil’s, the Palisades funky folk sounds of Half Brother, & the beautifully eerie voice of Marissa Nadler. Plus, the new Temper Trap brings a new fat sound that clicks on all cylinders.
If that ain’t enough I was in the mood for the legends.Tracks from the last of the great rock bands Los Lobos. The new Bobby Womack effort, OG Mexican Gansta Banda Los Tigres Del Norte, & a ’64 classic by The Dixie Cups..
