Tiger High Offers “Why Oh Why” For this weeks free download.

Tiger High is a tight-knit group of musicians all born and raised in the music mecca of Memphis, Tennessee. The group is composed of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jake Vest (Jack Oblivian, The Trashed Romeos), drummer Greg Roberson (Reigning Sound, Arthur Lee’s Love, The Trashed Romeos, Jack Oblivian, Compulsive Gamblers) and two of Vest’s longtime musical partners, brother Toby Vest and Greg Faison. Together, Tiger High co-writes and records their material at High/Low Recording, a studio owned and operated by band member Toby Vest. The studio serves as the band’s home base of operation as well as the home of their wrecking crew style production team.

MCA Remembered

Photo Credit: Adam "Ad Rock" Horovitz

In this edition of the Playlist we are looking back at the Beastie Boys after the passing of Adam Yauch.

Beastie Adam ‘Ad Roc’ Horovitz recently posted a message of thanks to the band’s tumblr, along with the above pic, saying:

“as you can imagine, shit is just fkd up right now. but i wanna say thank you to all our
friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support.
i’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.
thank you.

Adam Yauch was a Buddhist and a loving, positive human being. He is someone we can learn from, and are continuously inspired by.

We miss you, MCA! Your memory lives on…

The Danks Offers “Automocar” For this weeks free download.

Driven by small-town boredom and a severe distaste for contemporary pop, the Danks deliver a fistful of excitement with the follow-through of a wrecking ball in a Beverly Hills mansion. Recorded under sweltering circumstances in a Haligonian mini-mall, the quartet pounded out, among other things, the unflinchingly catchy Are You Afraid of The Danks.

The anti-workaday quartet has engaged in national tours with Hey Rosetta! and Two Hours Traffic, caused widespread wowing of festival patrons at both Pop Montreal and North by Northeast, and have graced Tokyo Police Club and Ted Leo with their blistering onstage presence. With cowboy capitalists sitting high on the Canadian bacon and the Buzzcocks approaching senior citizenry, the Danks propose an alternative economy, one that deals strictly in the currency of cool

RAH RAH Offers “Little Poems” For this weeks free download.

Rah Rah, Regina, Saskatchewan’s expansive rock collective, announce the release of their new 7” Little Poems on June 12, 2012. It offers two stand alone tracks, “Little Poems” and “I Could Tell You I’m Sorry,” not available on the new full-length, but still in the tone of the band’s third, most ambitious and sensational new studio album The Poet’s Dead (on Hidden Pony Records) coming out this fall.

The song re-visits the quintessentially Rah Rah combination of trade-off lead vocals from Marshall Burns and Erin Passmore and dwells in the heavy complexity of relationships and being “poor, drunk and scared of being alone,” told through a poetically skewed lens of life on the road, playing in a band.
